Golden Membership benefits Maya-Maya and members new and old!

With the soft launching of the new Golden Membership option we have been pleased to approve both new and long-standing individual and corporate supporters of Maya-Maya to the benefits of this new pre-paid 10 year membership of Maya-Maya.

The list of benefits available to all Maya-Maya members is listed herein and you will note that not only is Golden Membership highly beneficial to the pocket but also brings with it additional benefits as compared to those members who opt for annual renewals.

Those of you who have assisted us in this way have already noted the good works that your contributions have permitted:

· New signage on resort approaches
· Installation of additional typhoon tie-down points
· Ongoing improvements to the bar area
· Cradles and jack-stands for boats up to 50 tons hauled out for maintenance on our 50 tone Marine Travelift

S/Y “Domino” has a bottom job!

A long-standing relationship with the Puerto Galera Yacht Club took a further jump forward with the lifting of Dr. Jay Colebrook’s vessel at Maya-Maya for inspection of thru-hull fittings; removal of barnacles and anti-fouling.
The lift out was the second one undertaken of a substantial vessel on our ex-Team New Zealand (America’s Cup Defence) 50 ton Marine Travelift and was our very first re-launch!

The job went smoothly; according to budget and completed within the time-frame agreed with the owner. All together we were very pleased with the efforts of Team Maya-Maya who worked along with Dr. Jay Colebrook and his crew.

“Please explain to your men that I am very happy with their work and if tipping was not permitted at MMYC I would certainly have tipped them handsomely” said Dr. Colebrook as he stepped aboard S/Y “Domino” as it sailed for Puerto Galera. Earlier he had commented that MMYC were “more than competitive” with alternative marine repair facilities available within 100 nautical miles of Puerto Galera. Dr. Jay should know! He is a Dr. of Economics!

The Spa "A Sanctuary to be Sure"

Maya-Maya prides itself on being a clean, green and spacious facility that truly provides an escape away from the hurly-burly of city life. Nowhere is this truer than in the Sanctuary Spa at Maya-Maya. Despite the terrible weather experienced in August the grounds are a treat to behold and the atmosphere is truly deserving of the many favorable comments that our guests have made.

The popularity of our latest innovative service for members and guests increases week by week. Some guests on Fridays-Sundays have been disappointed due to our five massage tables being booked out! We recommend a telephoned booking if at all possible (09189097170). However if the massage suites are fully booked you may like to consider a “head and shoulders” or “foot” massage.

We bring to your attention the special non-discountable packages that are available which are specifically intended for that special “Getaway” or “Hideaway” Experience.

The Spa is open every day and with training on-going in many areas of relaxation therapy you may be assured that a visit to The Sanctuary Spa at Maya-Maya will always sooth the nerves and prepare you for your ultimate return to the Metropolis.

URGENT – LAND FOR SALE

Maya-Maya is very keen to start the redevelopment of the property as referred to in the last “Bugler”. The contractor is ready to start in December and we are now preparing final plans.

To kick start this project we are willing to sell at a very substantial discount one of our lots – above the resort – that forms part of the upcoming Las Vistas de Punta Fuego subdivision. These lots are strategically placed to gain a magnificent view of Tali and Peninsula de Punta Fuego as well as being fantastic sunset viewing locations.

Access to BATALEC 1 electricity supply and the Maya-Maya water system is included in these 1,000 square meter lots. With land in the area selling from Php8,500-15,000 these lots present excellent investment or home building opportunities. Fixed price – cash settlement – Php4,500 per square meter! Finance available based on Php6,500 per sq.m.

What is in a Name?

Seems a lot!

Our obviously feeble attempt at subtlety failed dismally with the issuance of the first edition of The Maya-Maya Bugler!

From far and wide, ranging both cultural and linguistic differences we were bombarded with inquiries “What on earth is a BUGGLER?”

To all who inquired and those who just wondered if the terminology was just the meanderings of your somewhat aged editor let me clarify the intent once and for all!

This newsletter is intended to “blow our own trumpet” about Maya-Maya, its history and, more importantly, its future! Hence the term “bugle” a non-valved instrument that depends on the player’s ample supply of controlled wind! You will note that our masthead now makes it easy for the musically challenged to see what it is all about!

Some of our members may not be surprised to learn that, in his teens, our Chairman David, was a bugler of no small repute! His Last Post and Reveille were regularly performed at Remembrance Day services (ANZAC Day) in Christ Church, New Zealand and at various military reunions and funerals.

Readers will be pleased to know that he has substantially run out of air!

Land For Sale

Land prices in the area continue to escalate as Punta Fuego is “sold out” and sales of Terrazza's de Punta Fuego and Kawayan Cove exceed expectations. Land values of between 8,000 and 15,000 are the norm. Therefore the just three (3) 1000 sq meter lots being offered in the Sunset hillside facing Tali and Punta Fuego are an absolute steal for the discriminating investor. These three lots will be sold quickly as we need the funds to kick-start the redevelopment of Maya-Maya. We are open to a special deal for the 3; single lot sales; or even a shared purchase between two friends who can subdivide the 1000 sq meters into 2 lots. We are SERIOUS sellers looking for SMART direct buyers! Access to BATALEC power and Maya-Maya water supply available. For more information simply visit and look for David or call him on 0918-9293972.

The future! The fulfillment of a life-long dream!

For twelve years now management has been in discussion with leading Architect Jun Palafox . In that time revision after revision finally resulted is something we are all happy with. Given the commitment to the property that the Stone Family has it was vital that any plan maintained the ambiance of Maya-Maya. The adopted plan scatters 20 2-bedroom Casitas on the flat part of the current resort property whilst locating 128 2-bedroom condo units in clusters of 8 units underneath the cliff-face and on the upper party of the site. It is intended to offer most of these units for sale with all being placed under a management operation but with optional participation in a rental pool.

Last year we almost signed an agreement that would have seen this project fast-tracked. However, in all honesty, it was felt that the risk to the existing shareholders was just too great. Accordingly we have decided to “work to the plan” and complete the project in stages. Initially we will construct 4 luxury 2-bedoom Casitas and then re-invest into the next stage of the project. Units will be sold with a 75-year ground lease and discussions are ongoing aimed at providing buyer-finance. It is anticipated that we will break ground on this project during 2007.
